Two Workshops by YALS Teachers at ELTA Conference 2014

This year’s ELTA Conference, entitled Back to the Future, was held in Belgrade, on 16 – 17 May.

Since one of YALS objectives is to constantly work on teachers professional development it was decided at one of our meetings that all schools should actively participate at the Conference. Thus, two schools applied and were accepted to hold their own workshops.

Greatest Hits – Our Compilation is a workshop created by two teachers from Oxford School, Leskovac, Marija Pejatovic and Jelena Spasic. The workshop consists of ready-made activities which can be used as revision games, warm-ups, round-ups, fillers or even assessment activities. The activities cover grammar and vocabulary but also speaking and writing ideas. Some ideas are their own invention while others represented some well-known activities adapted to suit various purposes.

Warmers, Boosters and Fillers – Revision activities for YL is a workshop created by Marko Savic and Jelena Mitrovic, teachers at Tom & Emma school, Belgrade. They continued the tradition of creative teachers from Tom & Emma school who always have lots to share and regularly present at ELTA. This workshop gives a ‘safe blanket’ for teachers teaching young learners who know that even carefully planned activities can go wrong.

Both workshops were held on Friday (Sessions II and III) and were very well attended.

Thanks to the ELTA conference , teachers from Serbia and abroad had an opportunity to meet some YALS teachers and to explore teaching ideas used in YALS .
