reported by Mirjana Ljiljak-Vukajlović

On 24 May 2025, language schools Lingva Valjevo and Lingva Belgrade held a seminar for the member schools of the YALS Association of Language Schools, under the title Teaching English through Games and Multimedia. The programme was as follows:

1st workshop: Music Sparkles

  1. YouTube YL gems by Lora Petronić Petrović
  2. Listen to what I am saying/singing! by Katarina Ristić
  3. Music games and activities by Ognjen Petković

2nd workshop: Guessing Sparkles

  1. Move if you know! by Anđelija Milić
  2. April fool’s auction game by Danijela Beljić
  3. Guess the landmark! by Melisa Barna

The atmosphere was exceptional, as with all previous YALS seminars, and it is hard to say whether the enthusiasm was greater among the presenters or the participants. The seminar received the highest ratings, both for the quality of the presentations and the overall organization. Here are some of the participants’ comments:

“All of the presentations, rich and varied, meant for teachers working with different students, are extremely inspiring. I cannot single out any as each of them is unique.”

“Thank you for organising this beautiful event! Wishing you another 35 years of successful work! Congratulations!”

“You are on the right course indeed!”

The atmosphere was further elevated by a cocktail reception celebrating the 35th anniversary of Lingva’s work, which was organized after the seminar for students from various generations, parents, colleagues, and friends. One of the owners, Dušan Vukajlović, gave a short speech reflecting on Lingva’s past successes and challenges, while YALS representative Maja Gavrilović Maksimović warmly described her impressions of the uniqueness and achievements of the colleagues from Lingva, and their contribution to YALS’ shared mission of promoting quality in foreign language teaching in accordance with the highest international standards.
