YALS has started the implementation of the fourth cycle of the project English for employees in local governments

Under the auspices of the US Embassy in Serbia, our association has started the implementation of the fourth cycle of the project “Teaching English to employees in local self-government units with a focus on practical skills needed for more effective communication with EU partners”.

After the very successful three cycles of this project and the achieved excellent results during the previous trainings, we started the implementation of the fourth cycle in the school year 2024/25, which will last from October 1, 2024 to May 31, 2025.

In the 15 selected cities and municipalities across Serbia (Belgrade: Palilula, Savski Venac, Vračar, then Čačak, Valjevo, Kula, Vrbas, Jagodina, Kruševac, Trstenik, Niš – two groups, Prokuplje, Leskovac, Vlasotince), there will be English language courses specially prepared for employees in the public sector organized by YALS member schools association. More than 180 civil servants will have the opportunity to improve their knowledge of the English language and acquire practical language skills for free, all with the aim of more effective communication with foreign partners. The participants will be able to improve skills such as writing formal emails, making and giving presentations, using useful digital tools, actively participating in meetings, etc. During the course, the participants will also have the opportunity to communicate in English with native speakers.

Great interest was also shown in this cycle among the employees of local self-governments in the cities where the project is implemented, which confirms to us that the project participants are very satisfied with the results so far and the acquired new knowledge and skills.

By implementing this project, YALS wants to provide its contribution to Serbia on the European path, strengthening first of all linguistic, but also other competencies (digital, communication, presentation skills, etc.) of employees in the public sector in the important process of joining the European Union.
