Lingva Belgrade opened its doors in 2019 as a subsidiary of Lingva Valjevo school. Through mutual cooperation, professional and dedicated work, the objective of Lingva Belgrade is to provide high quality foreign language teaching services in the capital and thus continue the longstanding tradition of Lingva, which was founded in April 1990 as the first private foreign language school in Valjevo.
Types of courses
We offer a wide range of English language courses for different ages, levels and specific needs of our students:
- Children and Teens:
- regular courses for pre-schoolers, younger primary school students, older primary school students, secondary school students
- summer club and English language workshops in Belgrade and Valjevo
- Preparation for International Certificates:
- Cambridge English exams: Young Learners, KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE
- academic exams for university applications or working abroad: IELTS, TOEFL, SAT
- Adults:
- regular classroom-based courses in general, conversational and business English
- courses for companies adapted to the needs of employees
- specialized courses focusing on language for specific occupations
- individual lessons (classroom-based or online)
YALS Accreditation
As a full member of the Association of Language Schools of Serbia, YALS, Lingva undergoes a thorough quality inspection in the fields of school management, academic management, space and working conditions, as well as teaching inspections and regularly receives the best marks. A positive result of this inspection is a precondition for the renewal of YALS’s accreditation, which Lingva has been attaining since its membership began in May 2000. The directors of Lingva Belgrade and Lingva Valjevo have greatly contributed to all activities of our association in the field of improving the quality of language services in Serbia.
Recognition by the British Council
Owing to many years of experience in the preparation of candidates for Cambridge English exams, the British Council included Lingva in its Addvantage programme in 2009. As around 1,100 of Lingva students attained these valued lifelong certificates with high marks, the British Council decided to award Lingva “Tier 1” status, qualifying us as a recommended preparation centre for Cambridge English exams. Lingva Belgrade is among only 20 selected schools in the capital, while Lingva Valjevo is the only one to hold this title in its city.
Membership in Professional Associtations
We are proud of the fact that all Lingva teachers are members of the Serbian English Language Teachers’ Association (ELTA) and regularly attend the annual international ELTA conference in Belgrade, as well as all other professional events organized by ELTA. Some of our teachers have taken part in the ELTA conference as presenters, some deliver accredited teacher training courses for English teachers, while some had the opportunity to speak at foreign conferences as officially elected representatives of the ELTA association. Owing to her merits in the field of quality professional development, the Director of Lingva Belgrade was elected to the Board of Directors of ELTA in 2018. Since then, she has been hard at work organizing workshops and conferences with her colleagues for English teachers throughout Serbia.
Our way of teaching
Backed by knowledge, we engage in continual professional development, dedicating ourselves fully to working with our students. Teaching in small groups of up to 6 students, we are able to adapt to their needs, carefully monitoring their progress and motivating them to acquire foreign languages with a sense of true satisfaction.
