YALS Representative at the Eaquals International Conference 2022 in Venice, Italy

The spring Eaquals International Conference 2022 was held in Venice, Italy from 28th to 30th April and was attended by a YALS representative – Mirjana Grandov Lacić, the founder and owner of a YALS member school – Oxford School – Kruševac / Vrnjačka Banja.

There were 200 attendees and a great excitement about finally making a full return (in person) to this annual event. The conference provided three days of innovative presentations, workshops and discussions, the opportunity to strenghten professional networks and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Venice. The first day, as usual, was reserved for inspector training, but at the same time there was a full day workshop on the Eaquals Academic Management Competency Framework by Ania Kolbuszewska, an Eaquals inspector and a former Director of Eaquals Accreditation. The opening plenary on SETTVEO app used for self-evaluation and teacher development was delivered by Steve Walsh, Professor of Apllied Linguistics and Communication at Newcastle University, UK. In the second day plenary Gisella Lange, a Foreign Language Inspector with the Italian Ministry of Education with extensive experience of working as an expert on European Commission and Council of Europe assignments, talked about implementation of CLIL programmes around the world. The closing plenary on the nature of language, language learning and language teaching was delivered by Waldemar Martyniuk, Professor at the Institute of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. The second and the third day were fully packed with sessions focused on five themes: Language teaching and learning, Course design, CEFR and assessment, Staff development, Leadership and management and Business and marketing.
