The 20th anniversary celebration of Penguin English School
by Danijela Veljković
A cocktail party organized on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of Penguin English language school was an opportunity to gather together, celebrate the joint achievements and to express our gratitude to all students, parents, teachers, donors, volunteers, associates and friends for their long-lasting trust and support.
In the official part of the programme, the guests were addressed by Marija Pejatović, the Chair of Association of Language Schools of Serbia, YALS, Jelena Savić, the representative of the British Council and Danijela Nenica Veljković, the founder and director of Penguin English language school. Short recitals in English were given by students Minja Simić and Anđelija Stevanović, and “Summer serenade” was performed by a former student of our school, a young English teacher and already an accomplished opera singer, Ana Petrović, who was accompanied by a pianist Neda Aleksić.
At the end of the programme, led by Ivana Jovanović, an actress of the National Theatre in Sombor, all teachers whose knowledge, love and dedication have guaranteed quality teaching for the past two decades and who have given a tremendous contribution to successful development of our school, gathered on the stage. After the birthday cake was taken to the stage by the youngest students, Trio PopArt band entertained our guests with an extraordinary and quality repertoire.
We are happy, proud and very grateful that a significant number of wonderful people and dear friends gathered to celebrate with us the twentieth anniversary of our school, thus adding even more joy to our jubilee and giving us a strong stimulus for further work.
