YALS Participates in “English for International Cooperation” Project


LearnEnglish for IT courses, organized jointly by the British Council Belgrade, local governments and YALS Association of Language Schools of Serbia, have recently been completed in four towns in Serbia. The aim of the project named “English for International Cooperation – Active Citizens“ has been achieved. In the period from April to June 2013, almost 50 citizens from those places, mostly young people, were covered by the courses. After completed courses, the students will certainly contribute more successfully to the development of their communities.

LearnEnglish for IT course at A2 / B1 level is one of many British Council courses which is organised around a series of workplace contexts where knowledge of IT plays an important role. Learners focus on a range of key IT skills and applications for solving problems as well as grammar, vocabulary and language necessary for communicating confidently and effectively in English.

The LearnEnglish for IT courses have been held in Serbia by YALS Schools  for the second time. This time they were held  by Blue Mooon – Kula in Vrbas, Lingva – Valjevo  in Šabac, Oxford School – Leskovac in Blace, and Livingston – Belgrade in Obrenovac.  Last year, in the first round of this project, which lasted from February to April,  about  500 students in over 20 towns were covered  by the face-to-face or online courses, which, besides the above-mentioned schools, were also held by Big Bird and Hello from Belgrade, M-School  from Leskovac, New English School from Pančevo and Penguin English from Jagodina.

The successful cooperation between YALS and the British Council Serbia has lasted for more than 13 years in the field of advancing quality and continuing development in English language teaching and learning.
